State-owned THDC India Ltd announced the commencement of coal supply operations from its Amelia coal block in Madhya Pradesh, ahead of schedule by six months, according to the company's CMD R.K. Vishnoi. In a statehas, Vishnoi stated that commercial operations for the block have begun, with the first load of coal excavated from the mines being dispatched to the railway siding.

The Amelia coal mine project, owned by THDCIL, has significant reserves totalling 162.05 million metric tons, including an extractable coal reserve of 139.48 million metric tons. The coal extracted from this mine will cater to the fuel requirements of the 1,320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant located in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.

THDC India Ltd, headquartered in Uttarakhand, operates in the power sector, and has a presence in various energy sources such as hydro, wind, solar, and thermal power.
