Special Arrangement

Around 41,000 workers, employees, and supervisors of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) are scheduled to receive revised salaries and wages based on the recommendations of the eleventh wage board, starting from Monday. This revision will have a financial impact of approximately ₹1,000 crore per annum on the company.

The updated salaries will be credited directly to the bank accounts of Singareni workers and employees starting Monday, according to statements from Chairman and Managing Director N. Sridhar and Director (Finance and Personnel) N. Balaram. They highlighted that Singareni is the first coal company in the country, even ahead of Coal India Ltd (CIL), to implement these revised salaries and wages.

Under the new wage structure, the basic pay for daily rated category-one employees will increase from ₹1,011.27 to ₹1,502.66, and for monthly rated A1 grade employees, it will rise from ₹98,485.79 to ₹1,46,341.67. The Singareni executives emphasized that the revised wages for coal employees were recently finalized by the 11th wage board. They also mentioned that there had been considerable delays in implementing the revised wages of the previous ten wage boards in Singareni, with implementation only occurring after CIL.

The Joint Bipartite Committee for the Coal Industry (JBCCI-XI) recently concluded its meeting, during which they revisited wages for public sector coal employees every five years. This led to the signing of the National Coal Wages Agreement (NCWA-XI) by all stakeholders. Singareni has decided to implement the new wages starting from June, with the payments scheduled for July.
